The SP on local councils
In 1974 the SP took part for the first time in local elections. The table below gives an overview of the development in the number of seats through the years. The party is now represented in 120 (out of 400) Local Councils.
The SP forms part of the local governing coalitions of many municipalities, some of which belong to the largest Dutch municipalities.
