Syrians won't be sent back following mistaken provision of information by Netherlands
A group of 181 asylum-seekers from Syria will be given residency permits thanks to the approval by Parliament yesterday evening of a motion presented by the SP.
Information on the request for asylum of a number of the country's nationals found its way, because of a mistake by the Netherlands authorities, into the hands of the notorious Syrian secret service. Information regarding these political refugees should never have been given to representatives of the regime from which they were in flight. This would have put them in danger on their return to Syria, a country in which the human rights of opponents of the government are systematically breached.
