The SP condemns Israel’s excessive and violent actions conducted via air raids on Gaza, and calls on the government to join it in these condemnations.

SP leader Agnes Kant describes the reaction of Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen as disgraceful. Verhagen has called on Israel to exercise maximum restraint in order to avoid further civilian losses and condemned Hamas for provocations preceding the Israeli air attacks. "This judgement is partially correct, but one-sided,” says Kant. “The appeal to Israel is utterly inadequate. It is not a proportionate reaction to the disproportionate violence of Israel’s actions. Only one suitable reaction is possible: condemnation of the violence, and a call for it to cease. And we should be calling for a renewal of the cease-fire.”
